The Cosmic Prayer

The cosmic prayer is sequence of 7 hand gestures, which are practiced with a mantra.

The mantra and the hand gestures remind us, that just as nature lives by giving so too can we.

Yoga master, Heinz Grill, conceived this asana, and more of its meaning is

described below, from his book: Harmony in Breathing (1996).

“Our body is created out of the spiritual realm. Like music from the heavenly sphere, the expansiveness of that which is alive permeates our thinking feeling and wanting. Life is infinite and there is no separation between us and outer existence, between our life and God.

Various impressions of our everyday life occupy our consciousness and distort the actual powers of the soul, so that we often perceive separation and disharmony. Life, however, is always in us and the powers of inner growth flow through us at every moment. Our heart is filled with love and this power is not separate from the cosmic expanse. We are one with the infinite and we carry life as a spiritual power within us.

The cosmic prayer leads us closer to consciousness of the inner life. It is practised through slow conscious movements like a prayer. It contains devotion and bowing to that which is alive. It helps us to dissolve our own barriers of thinking and wanting, and to appreciate the inner power of life within us. “
